Kain Lawyers Appoints Director and Opens New Melbourne Office

Transaction specialists Kain Lawyers has strengthened its national presence with a new office in Melbourne’s financial district at 55 Collins Street. The news is accompanied by the appointment of Nick Brown as Director who will be based in the new office. Nick is the former national head of PwC Australia’s legal business and a partner in PwC’s Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) legal team.

Nick’s practice focuses on M&A, private equity, capital raising, and corporate transactions having previously advised on deals across the retail, automotive, industrial, agricultural, technology and energy sectors. Notably, Nick recently represented Waterco (ASX:WAT) on its acquisition of Davey Water Pumps and the shareholders of Diamond Energy on their sale to Energy Bay.  He also has a significant practice in the implementation of equity incentive arrangements for domestic, foreign listed, and unlisted companies.

Prior to PwC, Nick worked for four years at SJ Berwin’s private equity team in London where he was nominated by Private Equity News as one of the rising stars in Private Equity advisory in Europe.

Kain Lawyers Managing Director John Kain said Nick’s extensive skill set will bolster the firm’s national transactions capability and enhance its effectiveness in providing customised solutions to often complex transaction challenges.

Nick will join Kain Lawyers Melbourne-based Director Jeremy Collins who started with the firm in March this year.
