Advised Athletic Ventures, an investor community of professional Australian sports stars, in the launch of its first venture capital fund. Led by former AFL star Matt de Boer and basketballer Matthew Dellavedova, Athletic Ventures is targeting a minimum raise of $25 million for the Athletic Ventures Champions Fund, a stapled early stage venture capital limited partnership and unit trust. Athletic Ventures Champions Fund aims to support early-stage private technology and consumer businesses, co-investing with tier 1 VCs.
Worked with Pemba Capital Partners and advised defence technology specialist company Aurizn on their acquisition of Pacific Aerospace Consulting (PAC) Australia. The acquisition marks a significant milestone in establishing Aurizn as a leading defence technology provider in Australia and internationally. The acquisition of PAC Australia follows their recent strategic acquisition of McR Defence. Australian-owned and with over 20 years’ experience, Aurizn delivers next-generation technology solutions, specialising in digital test and evaluation, simulation, and artificial intelligence to enhance decision-making, advanced sensing technologies and cyber operations.
Advised ZEN Energy on its $43 million investment from HD Renewable Energy, a $1.1 billion Taipei-listed renewable energy developer. The fundraising deal values the Adelaide-based renewables and storage company at $443 million and will enable ZEN Energy to advance its two major projects. These projects include the completion of its Templers battery north of Adelaide and the Solar River hybrid solar-plus-battery project near Robertstown, South Australia, which is targeting a final investment decision in the first half of 2025.
Advised Scanfil on its acquisition of SRXGlobal Pty Ltd (“SRX”) for EUR 23.3 million (USD 25.7 million), marking a key step in its Asia Pacific expansion. The acquisition includes SRX factories in Melbourne and Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with 8 automated SMT lines and about 300 employees. SRX is an electronic manufacturing services provider of complex, high-mix, low-to-medium volume production with a diversified spread of globally recognised customers. Cath Debreceny, newly appointed to Kain Lawyers at the time, worked alongside Zico Law in Malaysia and Icon Law in Singapore.
Advised VendorPanel on its merger with Unimarket to provide industry leading source-to-pay solutions. The merger combines the strengths of both companies to deliver a more robust source-to-pay solution, optimising business processes and delivering tangible business outcomes for customers worldwide. The combined company will serve nearly 450 customers across the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, in sectors such as corporate, education, healthcare, government, energy, facility management, transport, and utilities. Unimarket is backed by Accel-KKR, a technology focused investment firm.

Advised Waveconn on its acquisition of AT Australia Pty Ltd and AT Australia Operations Pty Ltd from American Tower Corporation (NYSE: AMT). This acquisition adds approximately 170 sites to Waveconn’s portfolio across Australia, including land under mobile towers and building rooftops.
Advised Whitmore Property on the launch of their Large Format Retail Fund, a new investment opportunity designed to capitalise on the growing demand for commercial retail spaces. The Fund aims to raise a total target of $150 million to invest in high-quality large-format retail properties across Australia.

Advised Argyle Group in the sale of a minority stake to Regal Partners. Following this divestment, Argyle Group is now Australia’s largest pure-play water entitlements investment manager, having established a strong track record of investing in water and agriculture for over 17 years.
Advised Symphony Infrastructure Partners on its $488 million Series-A financing round. The funding marks a significant milestone for Symphony, enabling it to complete the acquisition of five new portfolio companies, establishing one of Australia’s leading independent energy infrastructure services platforms.
